I wasn't going to make an announcement and planned to wait on dropping a new character before talking about this, but given recent light of events and how many problems are coming out, I think a post solely to share and give my stance on whether I'm quitting or not is necessary, as a lot of creators are leaving.

I'm choosing not to quit yet.

I'm extremely disappointed with what I've been reading (having headaches even trying to keep up with it all, as it seems like every hour something else is exposed), gotten baffled at some screenshots/mods testimonies, but I don't think I can throw away my account.

At the moment, this is my only hobby I've put tons of effort into and enjoyed it, even though I get burned out or hopeless often (been mulling over this stress for a while now, have thankfully become less attached to the site, my schedules and expectations). I still like the little community and people I've met through this space (I know I can go silent periodically).

I've had my criticisms of the site before, but the current state of things goes beyond a broken feature or another lack of properly communicating updates to users.

I do feel genuinely stuck on what decision to make since I want to show support to everyone wronged and they deserve better, but I'm also thinking on my mental health.

What I'm going to do right now is go on a hiatus/put a pause on releasing anything (it just doesn't feel right to publish them, even though I was excited and almost done writing multiple new OCs), and begin porting my characters to another site (saddened there's no option to comment in bots there so I can't hear from you guys :/ )—where, once I catch up, I'll put my new OCs in there. There's no pretending any ai chatbot site is morally better than the other (saw today an extremely insensitive attitude from the dev of that linked site, but I also heard even worse things from the other popular platform options people are going into... There seems like there's no running away from it, so I'm picking a fresh place that's most practical for me, and somewhere that hasn't had reoccurring problems without sight of solutions. And this is obviously a choice to show my discontentment with JAI).

I'll give it some months and look if things have gotten better. If so, I'll post again. I am really hoping Janitor improves because it's my favorite site for creative outlet and I already spent countless hours on it.

I'll take advantage of this break to focus on my last year of college. Thank you guys for all the support until now, see you hopefully soon.

I hope everything goes well for you! I’ll definitely miss your bits popping up as they’re some of my favorites even if I’m usually a silent bot user. Based on what some others said, I think 🍳could be a good option too! Especially since there’s comments

Im seconding sauce 🍳 I think theyve been doing amazing. I love how they are constantly giving announcements and updates when they change something on the site. Ive seen a lot of popular creators move there and honestly have been waiting for more of my favorite creators to move there.

Good luck with college and glad you’re turning the hiatus into something beneficial! My irl is so overwhelmingly busy I can’t juggle multiple sites so I’ll just have to be one of your followers waiting in case the hiatus ends one day. Hoping the accountability wake up leads to proper improvements because yeah, lots of sites have issues, but accountability is how it gets better.

Life being busy and not wanting to jump between multiple sites is one of the reasons I haven't quit janitor and am only porting to one site, yeah :/ I can't pretend it's impossible that these other sites could be exposed for bad things too. But I care about janitor the most, which is why I had to thing well on what to do. A step back to think things through should work out for me. I don't think my hiatus will be permanent, just need to see some things put together and proper moderation of serious matters.

We all def appreciate those of yall staying, even with a hiatus. I work 7 days a week between a full time job and being a small business owner so I hope JAI figures things out because I have sooooo many bots I love here and so little time to bounce around to like 3 different sites >.<

if it were only about changing from janitor to an alternative, i would've done it in a heartbeat after seeing all this come out, but the issue is until now j.ai has been like. the largest site of it's kind with the biggest base of users & creators, and theres like a zillion alternatives all vying for it's spot, each with a fraction of the userbase, a fraction of the features and every creator choosing somewhere different so it's hard for me to choose WHERE to go yk

Right? Plus they're going to like SO many different sites. I've seen at least 3 in the few people I follow that actually made announcements about moving? I work 7 days a week between 2 jobs, as much as I love those creators, I have very few hours to enjoy bots to bounce between every single site.

Plus, now that this came out, I'm more a fan of people *keeping them accountable* so they have incentive to change instead of just scrap it and move on which is more likely if there's just a mass exodus. The site has potential if they actually do what they were acknowledging they need to do for proper communication and for their mod teams.

I have no idea what is going on but I really hope things get better, I recommend posting on Charsnap, great mods and creators, so many tags for bots, etc. You are an amazing writer, please don't let whatever shit is going on make you stop your amazing talent!!

I'm so saddened with what's happening rn on Janitor. And not on Janitor honestly, in the whole world- it's just .... Just sucks. We need a way to lock down all requests to trusted providers only, and we haven't figured out how to do that securely yet (or if it's even possible)."

I think it's a maybe option devs will add in the future. Singular reason why I'm not using the website that much because I like free proxies

I tried out their free proxies, it's a bit underwhelming atm because I like longer replies with many paragraphs. I'm struggling on directing the proxy to do so, and with no purple prose.

Thank you so much for letting us know, and may I advise a second opinion? S@ucey (don't want to get banned) is a very good other option, and a lot of the good bot creators I know are going over there, and we can comment on your bots there if you ever want to try your luck on there! :)

Some stuff from🥫🍳  which makes it sound to me like a community I wouldn't want to engage with atm, 🐉 has a lack of one rule that's too suspicious and I don't agree with. ♉ obviously is the worst of the bunch. More hidden ones/newer ones aren't worth it, they tend to die in a month. Those are the popular options I know of.
