**January 2026**
  - January 16, 2026 - An ExMod exposed moderation problems behind the site, see[[mikale_s_post_on_moderation|Mikale’s Post on Moderation]]
  - January 16, 2026 - Shep did an AMA (see: [[shep_and_ama_for_january_16_2026]])
  - January 17, 2026 - Exmod creates a discord server dedicated to Exmods stories. See [[The Talking Zone Discord]] for links and other info.

  - January 20, 2026 - No mods in site. Redddit and sub seems unaffected. See here [[significant_events|January 2026]]
  - January 20, 2026 - Exposing mods behaviors and attitudes towards other users. See [[Former mods on former mods]]
  - January 20, 2026 - [[Previously Shadowbanned Accounts are Now Banned]]
  - January 20, 2026 - customer support got shut down.
  - January 22, 2026 - The creator of the ex mod discord server believed shep's pinky promise and decided to delete all mod stories and mod evidence that were posted, without the consent of any ex mods. However the original mod post is as good as confirmed. See the [[Evidence from The Talking Zone]]
  - January 24, 2026 - Official Discord server started back up but still has 30 second cooldown and only two channels unlocked indicating that there's still a critical lack of moderators.

===== Initial allegations made =====

Many allegations towards shep and the moderation environment were made by the ex mods, these include but are not limited to:

- Shep acting childish and reversing mod decisions.
  - Overall bad tools given to moderation teams
  - Mods couldn't reverse bans and as such tickets were ignored.
  - Mods were overworked with high work hours.
  - Shep's decision to only allow shadowbans likely led to the mods being unable to effectively ban known minors off of the site.
  - Bots in general cannot be deleted, only force privated, so you can see the issue.
  - Volunteers were to be paid in nitro but shep never followed up on the reward.
  - A paid mod on this website reported not receiving her paycheck on the dates they were supposed to be given, and had to remind the Dev's constantly.
  - They were fired shortly after as there was no budget anymore.
  - The devs lied about them quitting.
  - The mods were told about major changes only at the time the users were told about it.
  - The mods (not the subreddit) had almost no protection against death threats from the userbase and were not allowed to ban such content.
  - The mods were effectively told to ensure it.
  - The size of the creator directly affected how they were treated, for creators over 666 followers, they couldn't be banned by the mods and had to be banned by the Devs.
  - Verified creators had to be dmed by mods before their bots could get removed which effectively erased any anonymity the mods had.
